How Is YOUR Lent?

Jer3Here we are, a little more than half way through Lent, and I have a question for you…

How is YOUR Lent?

Have you accepted the invitation made on Ash Wednesday to enter into a holy season of prayer, fasting and self-examination? If you have, how is it going?

The bible says
Call to me and I will answer you,
and will tell you great and hidden things
that you have not known.

Jeremiah 3:33

Have you asked God to reveal Himself to you in a new and fresh way?

During Lent we are invited to experience God more deeply and more abundantly by offering ourselves, our time, our finances and our habits in sacrificial love.  When we do we allow the Holy Spirit to direct and move us into a life that reflects Jesus Christ.

This can be a life changing time.

In fasting we experience the abundance of God
In self-examination we are changed into the likeness of Christ
In prayer we hear the Father’s voice and grow to understand His will

So, how is your Lent?

Sandpaper People
that’s what my dear friend calls them
Sandpaper People

Those people who rub you the wrong way
go against the grain of your life
removing little bits of your polite, gracious and gentle veneer
rubbing and rubbing
at the end of the day
you are exhausted
nothing left but a pile of dust…

The Holiday Season
The annual gathering of dysfunctional families
The coming together of the Sandpaper People
“Your house is lovely, but why haven’t you…”
“Have you gained weight…”
“Why don’t you…”
“When will you…”

In the midst of the gathering
there is God The Holy Spirit
who brings to mind words of comfort
words that remind us that He is present
He Is Comforter and Councilor

Breathe. Meditate. Receive. Choose.

The Fruit of the Spirit is….

As The Comforter, Councilor, Holy Spirit dwells in you
is used to polish, correct blemishes, smooth rough edges
to bring out natural beauty

Abide in Him
Allow Him to abide

Then Fruit
His Fruit
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control

Come Holy Spirit

We Believe

Tell me about yourself – who are you?

This question has come up several times in the past few weeks.
My short answer:
I am a wife, mom, and new grandmother
I am a singer, musician and worship arts director
I enjoy knitting

These are wonderful bits of information and I am proud of them, but I am much deeper than this list.

There is one statement that shapes me and directs my life:
I am a Christian and…
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Beginning this Sunday, at 10:26am, we will gather and sing a new song at Grace Anglican Community – We Believe by Richie Fike, Travis Ryan and Matt Hooper

It’s a declaration of belief.

I pray that this song brings you joy as you sing it with thanksgiving!

I can’t wait to worship with you Sunday!
